It’s that time of year where everyone pulls out that dusty fascinator and little black dress to try to achieve a chic look for the Races. But Spring Racing Style doesn’t have to be too serious. Here are some fun ideas to embrace your love of coastal style & incorporate them into your Spring Racing wardrobe.
Seaside Inspired Headwear
Go for a natural yet elegant mermaid inspired crown for a different take on Headwear.
Pearls are another natural option, an elegant crown can be worn for a boho yet luxurious look. But be careful not to wear this look with white as you may end up looking too ‘bridal’.
For a vibrant splash of colour consider using a ‘coral’ look as a statement piece. This would look great mixed with neutrals or black or navy.
You can’t go past a traditional hat, but why not add a nautical spin and go with a Boater style? This classic look adds a nautical flair to any outfit, and it will keep the sun off your face. Also hats seem to be more of a statement piece as they are few and far between with fascinators or simple crowns more popular amongst younger racegoers of late.
If you really want to make a colourful coastal statement, a bright headband is another option to embrace a more eclectic, Island style.
A great little basket is one way to enhance a race day look with a touch of nautical flair.
For a more boho style we are mad about this clutch from Sea Tribe – tassels are so on trend and this bag would be perfect with most colours and prints as it’s incredibly versatile.
For those Island Style addicted like myself, a colourful statement clutch is another way to go. Toucan’s & parrots anyone?
The Races are a great day out and we hope you enjoy our little coastal spin on how to incorporate our much loved coastal vibe. Some other tips:
- Pace yourself, it’s a long day. A wise woman once told me don’t have a champagne until after the main race.
- Remember grass and stilettos do not mix! Go with a block heel or a wedge to keep from sinking into the lawn
- Stock up that stylish clutch (or basket) with essentials such as Panadol, band-aids, lip gloss, even a small sewing kit as you might struggle to find emergency supplies at a race track.
So remember to embrace your inner mermaid & take a few style risks this year. But more importantly whatever your personal style, have a fun day out.
